AI for agencies: where it saves hours and where it costs trust

Agencies sell time and judgement. AI is most useful when it removes the low-judgement hours — research, first drafts, reporting — so the team spends more time on the work clients actually pay for.

High-value uses

  • Prospect research before pitches: company background, recent news, likely priorities.
  • Proposal and statement-of-work first drafts from a call summary.
  • Monthly client reports: turning platform exports into a plain-English summary.
  • Internal knowledge: answering 'how do we usually do X?' from your own process notes.

Protect the client relationship

Clients notice generic output. Keep a human edit on anything client-facing, never paste confidential client data into tools that train on inputs, and be open about where AI is used if your contracts or clients expect it.

Measure the time actually saved

Track hours per deliverable before and after for a month. If a report took three hours and now takes one including review, that is real margin. If the review takes as long as the original work, the use case is not ready.
